My Work - Poetry

Illumination in the Night of Expatriation

I was alone.
Yet I was not alone!
Allah was with me in every moment of remoteness.
In every misery He bestowed upon me a pleasure.
At every ebb He granted me a full tide.
His sweet Quran wiped away my tears
And filled me with courage.
In the still of the night
I chanted the beautiful verses
And felt inside me the flicker of the flames of lamps,
The smell of aloe-wood and agalloch
And sensed inside my being a waterfall of light and roses.
I was alone.
Yet I was not alone
For Allah was with me in every moment of remoteness
For Allah does not forsake a loving worshipper.
